Cavalier Pups Junior Carnival Club

The Cavalier Pups were first started in 1995. The idea for the Pups came from Dave Speeds nephew, Stephen Andrews. When the idea was taken to the Cavaliers a V.P. named Jean Shackleford decided to setup and run the Pups for this their first year. Jean decided the theme for the carnival should be Mary Poppins, she organised everything and also made the costumes. In their first year the Pups had 9 members.

The following year, 1996, Vanessa Speed was asked by the club to take over the organising, which she did. The Pups decided they would like to do the same theme as the Cavaliers (Fright Night) but called it 'Spooky Express'. The kids decided they wanted to dressed as witches, wizards and ghosts. Lesley Morgan made all the costumes with Ness helping. The Pups only had 7 members this year.

In 1997 Cavalier Pups decided again to stick to the same theme as the Cavaliers and were called 'Abrakazam'. They were dressed as genies and a few of the older kids even had flying carpets. Eileen Moody took over the dress making with Ness and Dave doing the final touches. This year they had 8 members.

1998 was the last year that the Pups did the same theme as the main club but they called themselves 'Flaming Freezing' (Cavaliers were Fire & Ice). A couple of the Pups designed the costumes and Eileen and Ness made them. Gavin and Kayleigh Saunders did the finishing touches with a bit of help. We only had 6 members this year but still carried on. 1998 saw the Pups also doing the Wells carnival.

1999 the Pups decided to do their own idea, Clowns, which is what they were all dressed as. We called this 'Mischief in Motion' and 3 kids were in wheelbarrows with custard pies and feather dusters. Eileen made the costumes and this year was one of the best so far.

2000 the pups this year decided to go for an 'American' theme.  They proudly walked the circuits under the title of ' All stars and Stripes', a dazzling display in red, white and blue.
